Well, the first Harrier League race of the season has been and gone. There was a mixture of emotions during the day. The Aurora flag saw its first race outing at the NEHL and both the men's and women's team members all gave 100% in tough and cramped race conditions. I think we all felt the race in our legs afterwards, the first race always takes its toll and unfortunately there were some casualties. As a club we wish our runners a speedy recovery and lets get ready for Jarrow!
Well done to all runners who took part in the Gibside Fruit Bowl, it sounds like it was a tough old race!
On 19/10/2013 Aurora held a charity race night in support of one of our members, Keith Weavers, in his fundraising for Hope for Children which sees him run the challenging Marathon de Sables in April 2014 ( That's 150 miles across the desert!). The event was held with the kind support of Whickham CC and was brilliantly supported by other local clubs.
The night was a great success with £539 being made for Keith Weaver's charity. Below is a copy of the letter sent out by Lisa Black after the event (Well done to Lisa for making it happen!)
Dear Supporter, Just a short note to give sincere thanks for your generous
contribution to the Charity Race Night I held on Sat 19th October. We had a
great turn out and support, with many people going home arms filled with prizes
having enjoyed a fun filled night! A special thanks to Peter Ruddick for his
fantastic MC-ing of the race night along with thanks to John and Pam for running
The whole evening raised a whopping £949, which after costs,
was split between Hope for Children and Whickham Cricket club (Juniors), both
doing much needed work for and with children. This money now gives Keith Weavers
of Aurora a good start to his target £10,000 for his Marathon de Sables run next
April, so, once again, thanks again for your support which without, the night
wouldn’t have been the success it was. If you would like to know any more about
the night, Keith’s run or the two charities and the work they do, please get in
No one can escape Aurora!!! Two of our runners, Ross and Rachael, completed the Free to Breathe 5K in Milwaukee, WI. The run was in aid of Lung Cancer Awareness and raised a lot of money for the charity. Rachael even won a medal for third in her age category. Well done to you both!
Congratulations to Nic who came in as first female at the Dalbeattie Hardrock
Challenge. This event is a 26 mile duathlon, with a 16 mile bike ride and 10
mile run. Brilliant result well done!
On a cold, wet and rainy Sunday morning, the Aurora Harriers came out in force at the GNR 2013! Well done to our four runners Ross, Billy, Keith and Nic who all ran brilliantly and a massive thank you to everyone at the club who all volunteered
What a brilliant night for Aurora Harriers at the Watergate 5K! Two prize winners and plenty of PBs and SBs. Well done to all runners who competed.

We are hoping to get four teams out for this 3k team event on Wednesday 21st August. With a couple of injuries and sickness bugs going around we're still looking for a few extra...anyone else fancy it? If you did the cathedral relays you'll know what a great occasion it is.
06/08/2013 - What a fantastic turn out at the Morpeth 10K last night. Well done to all the runners who took part there were some brilliant results with 11 members competing all together. Keep up the good work Aurora!!!!
